Plastic, Glass, Metal Recyclables

Co-mingled plastic, glass and metal, and paper recyclables are picked up at the curb on Wednesdays. Recycling is required by law.

Recyclables must be at the curb/edge of property only, never in the road, by 7:00 a.m. on collection day or the night before.

Recyclables may also be brought to the Maxwell Avenue Facility between 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (except Wednesdays and all holidays), and from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Verification of residency in the Village of Larchmont or the Town of Mamaroneck is required.

Glass, plastics, and metals must be placed in an open garbage can or a plastic bin. Bins are available at a cost of $7.00 per bin and $5.00 per lid; they may be purchased at the Mamaroneck Town Center or Larchmont Village Hall.

Recyclables may NOT be set out in plastic bags. All co-mingles must be rinsed out and free of food and soil.

The ONLY Acceptable Items:

  • Glass
    Beverage bottles and food jars (clear, green or brown). Labels may be left on. Do not break.
  • Plastics
    Containers for foods, beverages, or detergents with the symbols or . Labels may be left on and containers may be crushed.
  • Metals
    All empty aerosol cans, food and beverage cans, and clean aluminium foil or trays. Labels may be left on and items may be flattened.

Recyclable Paper

Paper is picked up on the curb on Wednesdays, or may be brought to the Maxwell Avenue Facility during the hours described above. Paper must be placed in a separate bin. Recyclable paper must be clean.

The ONLY Items Accepted:

  • Printed Paper Products
    Newspapers, magazines, catalogues, junk mail, office papers, telephone books, brochures, advertisements, letters, and paper envelopes can be placed together in a bin, brown paper bags, corrugated cardboard box, or tied with string.
  • Brown Corrugated Cardboard
    Non-wax coated corrugated cardboard only. Remove extraneous adhesives and staples. Cardboard must be flattened, bundled, and tied.
  • Brown Paper Bags
    Fold additional bags into one bag.

Unacceptable Items...Not To Be Recycled

  • Glass
    Windows, shower doors, pane glass, mirrors, ceramics, glassware, kitchen cookware, crystal, and light bulbs. These must be taken to the Maxwell Avenue Facility.
  • Plastics
    Containers with recycling symbols other than or , flower pots, styrofoam, plastic wrap, plastic toys, plastic bags, envelopes made of plastic film (regardless of recycling code.
  • Metals
    Paint cans, scrap metal, wire coat hangers, pipes.
  • Paper
    Cereal boxes, tissue boxes, shoe boxes, toilet & paper towel rolls, gray cardboard, carbonized paper, hardcover or paperback books.
  • Vehicle Batteries
    Turn in old batteries to the dealer when purchasing a new battery.
  • Household Batteries Bring to yard, or throw out in the garbage.
