Organic Yard Waste Recycling

Organic yard waste is picked up on the curb on the second day of your regular garbage collection, either Thursday or Friday for recycling.

ORGANIC WASTE IS DEFINED AS LEAVES, GRASS CLIPPINGS, PLANT TRIMMINGS, BRANCHES, AND TWIGS.

Beginning Thursday, April 1, 2005, through Friday, Oct. 15, 2005, the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Joint Sanitation Commission will collect organic waste separate from garbage.

Between April 1 and October 15, organic recyclables must be placed out at the curb in paper bags or loosely in trash containers marked for organic waste recycling.

After October 15, 2005 branches, grass clippings and other organic material, with the exception of Fall leaves, should be put in plastic bags and set out curbside as rubbish on the second collection day.

Fall leaves must be raked loose to the curb for pick-up by the Highway Department between October 15 and December 15. Branches must not be mixed in with leaves, but instead must be cut into 4 foot lengths and separately bundled.

Rules
