The Colonial Greenway is almost ready!

The long-awaited Colonial Greenway, a 13+ mile trail around New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Scarsdale, Eastchester, and New Rochelle, is scheduled to open with a 1/2 marathon called "Paine to Pain" on Sunday, September 28.  The marathon will begin at the Thomas Paine Cottage in New Rochelle, with opening ceremonies beginning at 9 AM.   Come out and run with your friends and neighbors on this exciting day!

Correction to Larchmont Notes - Important Notice!

In our Spring/Summer edition of Larchmont Notes, the information concerning registering your gardener for organic waste removal privileges is incorrect.  You may NOT register them by phone.  Please use the registration card included with the Sanitation brochure sent to you earlier this year to register your gardener for these privileges.  We apologize for the error and any inconvenience this has caused.

Anti-Idling Law

On April 7, 2008, the Village Board adopted an anti-idling law.  When the ambient temperature exceeds 40 degrees Farenheit, motor vehicle engines, other than legally authorized emergency services vehicles, may not idle longer than three minutes while parking.  Buses may not idle while parking, standing or stopping. Here are some of the reasons for this law:

Less air (and ear) pollution.  An idling car creates twice the emissions.

Saves money.  Idling 15 minutes per day can cost you up to $100 in wasted gas over the course of a year.

Saves oil.  American drivers use more than 2 billion gallons of fuel each year while idling.

Are You Interested In Being An Election Inspector?

The Westchester County Board of Elections is looking for individuals to serve as Election Inspectors.  Are you interested?  If so, please see their flyer for details.

Flint Park Plans

The revised plan for improvements to Flint Park was unveiled by the Village's consultant, Woodard & Curran, at the September 10, 2007, Village Board meeting. Click here to see them!
